Obituary

Susan Christina Gamberg, 78, of Colchester, VT died on May 30, 2026 while in hospice care following an illness.

She was born on May 22, 1948 to Cuban immigrants in New York, NY and was raised in Astoria, Queens, with her mother, father, and three sisters. In 1973, she married Samuel Gamberg. They dreamed of a quieter pace of life and moved to Vermont in 1974. After several years as a stay at home mother, Susan gave 22 years of service to the Burnham Memorial Library in Colchester. She oversaw the interlibrary loan and volunteer programs and was an avid reader of mystery novels and historical fiction. She also enjoyed watching British television series and felt especially drawn to Scottish culture and history. She loved dogs, especially small breeds like Dachshunds, West Highland Terriers, and Bull Terriers. More importantly, she enjoyed being a grandmother to her five year old granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband, Sam, of 53 years; her three children: Daniel Gamberg, 42, of Colchester, Rachel Nunziata, 40, of Colchester, and Alissa Gamberg, 38, of Maryland; one grandchild, Brooklyn Nunziata, 5, of Colchester; two sisters and their spouses; one niece and several nephews. She was a devout caregiver to her special needs son, Daniel, and when asked what was her greatest joy in life she said, "My children."

A burial service will be held privately for the family.
