Obituary

Terry Moultroup, 64, passed away peacefully at home in Richmond after a long illness.

Terry was born in Burlington to Henry C. and Charlotte (Tomlinson) Moultroup on September 1, 1961. The youngest of five boys, he attended Richmond schools, graduating in 1979 from Mount Mansfield Union High School and then later, the University of Vermont. While in college, he joined the Vermont Air National Guard, securing a pilot's slot to fly the F-4. He married Dawna (Jaquith) June 12,1982, after which the couple left for pilot training in Columbus, Mississippi. After two years of various levels of flight training, Terry and Dawna returned to Vermont, raising three children in Huntington Center. Terry was an integral part of the Air Guard during the transition from a part-time unit to a full-time F-16 unit flying alert missions out of bases along the east coast. He also held various command positions within the unit, retiring in December 2017 having accrued 4000+ flight hours in the F-16 as well as other aircraft. Always civic minded, Terry served on the Board of Selectman for seven years in Huntington and was well respected by the community. He was active in the Huntington Baptist Church, now the Community Church of Huntington, and the Jericho Congregational Church in Jericho Center. Terry and Dawna lived in Huntington Center from 1984-1999, later building a home on the family farm in Richmond where they have lived to the present.

While Terry was dedicated professionally, he also spent much time pursuing many hobbies and outdoor activities. He was an avid hunter and gun collector. He loved hiking the trails on the family farm, walking the river looking for jasper rocks and could always be the first to spot a four leaf clover. He has enjoyed passing these pursuits onto his grandchildren who also loved tractor rides and sledding. One of Terry's prized possessions was a '71 Challenger he spent years restoring, taking it to local car shows and enjoying the attention it received. Terry and Dawna also enjoyed motorcycle riding, even taking trips to Nova Scotia and Virginia, riding the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Favorite destinations included Maine and Acadia where the family often vacationed. He was always ready for an adventure, whether far away or close to home. However, Terry's abiding faith in God and his deep love for Dawna were the core of his life. He was a man of integrity in all he said and did.

Terry was preceded in death by his father Henry and brother Bruce in 2022 and his mother Charlotte in 2024.

Terry is survived by wife of 44 years Dawna Moultroup, daughter Johanna Dunbar (husband Keith) of Richmond; daughter Julie Minihan (husband Matthew) of Rindge, NH; and son Jonathan Moultroup (wife Brittany) of Tilton, NH. He is also survived by brothers David (wife Bonny), Mark (wife Alice), and Jeffrey (wife Debbie), all of Richmond; and nine grandchildren: Brianna Minihan, Elena Dunbar, Cameron Minihan, Andrew Dunbar, Jacob Minihan, Sean Minihan, Nathanael Dunbar, John Moultroup and Chloe Moultroup, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family of Terry Moultroup wishes to extend sincere thanks to VA PCP Amy Denis at the Burlington Lakeside Clinic; Dr. John Taylor at the UVM Memory Clinic and the UVM Home Health & Hospice team including nurse Judy Johnson and many others.
