Obituary

Walter J Putnam went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Walt, or "Buddy" to those who knew him best was born on December 28, 1961, to Carolyn Putnam and Walter Perry. He attended Colchester High School and served in the Army National Guard.

Buddy was, as they say, a jack of all trades, but most enjoyed working in carpentry and roofing. He was a good friend to many and enjoyed helping people with anything they needed, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved a good pool game and kept those around him laughing with his goofiness and quick wit.

Buddy loved to fish and back in the day spent many mornings on the riverbank teaching his young sister-in-law and younger brother to worm a hook and cast a line after hosting sleepovers when they were younger, a tradition he carried on with his own children and granddaughters for whom his love knew no boundaries.

Some of Buddy's dearest treasures were his two children, and his precious granddaughters. He was so very proud to be "Dad" and "Papa" and truly enjoyed every moment he spent with them.

Buddy was a man of few words. He was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Buddy is survived by his former wife, Bonnie Husk of Ferrisburgh and their two children, Stephanie Marie Putnam of Essex, and Todd Cameron Putnam and wife Amy of Apollo, PA, his beloved granddaughters, Aniah Rose, and Kiarra Marajah whom he loved with all his heart, his mother, Carolyn Putnam of South Burlington, siblings, Kelly Lonergan of Colchester, and Paul Putnam of Milton, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

He was predeceased by his brother, Todd Cameron Putnam, whom he named his son after, his birth father, Walter Perry, who died when Bud was young, and his father, Paul E Putnam who adopted Bud as a boy, and became his father in every sense of the word.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 10am-12pm at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St, Essex Junction.
