William Henry
Moulton
May 17, 1937 — Oct 10, 2026
William "Bill" Henry Moulton
William Moulton, 89, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, with his wife and sons by his side.
On May 15, 1937, Bill was born into the family of Lee and Bernice Moulton. He grew up in Moscow, VT. Bill attended Stowe High School and graduated in 1956. After learning to operate a bulldozer at the age of 13, he spent the rest of his life working in construction. One of the jobs he was most proud of was the part he played in erecting the towers on top of Mt. Mansfield for WCAX. In 1964, he married Carol Lee Sweet. Together they raised three sons, Mark, James, and Peter, of whom he was very proud. He and Carol bought the Elmore store in January 1975, and sold it in 1977. In 1979, Bill started work for the Village of Morristown and retired after 25 years as the Road Comissioner for Morrisville and Morristown. In addition to driving tour bus for Lamoille Valley Transportation part-time for 20 years, he started his most profitable business of Papa's Taxi Service and Daycare. Bill never missed his grandchildren's sporting events, dance recitals, or horse shows. He was a storyteller, he could be stubborn, he loved stirring the pot then sitting back and watching the fallout with a smirk on his face. He could smack-talk with the kids and grandchildren and loved it when they gave back as good as he gave.
Despite his tough exterior, those who knew him best knew he had a heart of gold. Some of his favorite pastimes were sugaring with his sons, snowmobiling, reading, watching the Red Sox and having a toddy with his sons.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years and his sons Mark (Kim), Peter (Stacey), and his six grandchildren: Jake, Paige, Emily, Sydney, Madison, Rebecca, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James, his parents, and his siblings.
Per Bill's wishes there will be no visiting hours or funeral. A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced at a later date. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the immediate family. The family would like to thank everyone from Lamoille Home Health & Hospice that assisted in caring for Bill over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to either the Elmore United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 181, Lake Elmore, VT 05657 or Lamoille Home Health & Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morristown, VT 05661.
