Our History

Our Story

Since our founding, the guiding principle of our funeral homes has been the commitment to treating each family who comes to us as our own. The Donahue family and their team are committed to this time-honored tradition

The Donahues have also acquired and opened several other funeral locations, including:

LaVigne Funeral Home in Winooski, Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury, Gifford Funeral Home in Richmond, Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home in Essex, Corbin and Palmer Shelburne Chapel in Shelburne, and Lamoille Funeral Home in Morristown.

A majority of these locations have long-standing history in their communities, and our goal is to continue to honor that. Today we are privileged to serve hundreds of area families each year. In recent years, we’ve gathered together a staff of highly qualified and deeply caring individuals to assist us in continuing the funeral home’s mission of providing excellence in funeral services to families in their time of need.

Whether you have an immediate need for our services or you wish to begin pre-planning a funeral arrangement for you or someone you love, call us. We will be proud to serve you.

Our story is rooted in generations of funeral service and a commitment to treating every family with the compassion, dignity, and respect we would want for our own.

For the Kingston/Donahue family, those roots began at Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield. George Kingston Sr. was followed by his son, Thomas Kingston, who served families throughout the Northfield community for more than four decades. The next generation continued with Thomas’s daughter, Robin, and her husband, Michael Donahue. Upon their retirement, their children, Nicholas and Jackie Donahue, stepped into leadership roles, carrying forward a legacy of funeral service that now spans four generations of the Kingston/Donahue family.

Building on those roots, the Donahue family helped bring together a number of respected Vermont funeral homes, each with its own history and longstanding connection to the community it serves. Today, our family of funeral homes includes Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield, LaVigne Funeral Home in Winooski, Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury, Gifford Funeral Home in Richmond, Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home in Essex, Corbin & Palmer Shelburne Chapel in Shelburne, and Lamoille Funeral Home in Morristown.

While our locations have come together as one team, preserving the individual identity, history, and community relationships of each funeral home remains important to us. The Donahue family continues to be actively involved in the management and day-to-day leadership of our funeral homes, working alongside an experienced team of funeral directors, apprentices, and support staff.

Together, we are privileged to serve hundreds of Vermont families each year. Our focus remains where it has always been: providing thoughtful, professional, and compassionate guidance while honoring the individual wishes and traditions of every family who places their trust in us.

Whether you have an immediate need for our services or are considering pre-planning arrangements for yourself or someone you love, our team is here to guide you through every step. It is our privilege to serve our communities, and we are honored by the trust families place in us.
